Fun. In Sickness. And in Stress.

In spite of the fact that I spent a day atrophying in bed, and then spent the weekend stressing and fighting, it’s been a good week. Good, because it was sunshiny and bright and I got a tan. Good, because I got to celebrate my Mom and her birth, and…well. She is pretty awesome. Not to mention, I wouldn’t be me, if she hadn’t been born. So that’s pretty huge.

It was good, because…well, God is good. Really. Truly.

Despite the fact that John and I have been bombarded by the most irrational fears and ridiculous worries, He is good.

We knew the time would come when our faith in God, and this move, would be tested, but I realize now more than ever that these times are good for us. These times beckon me to go deeper. To let go of what little control I have, and grab hold of the life that God intended for me. So we are continuing on this path, just as resolved as ever, to find joy in it all.

Speaking of finding joy, I love having my niece and nephews at my house on a much more frequent basis. Last week, we had art day and we made these:

Paper plate bird nests.

The birds were “supposed” to be perched gracefully to the side like this, but then one of them decided to put her bird directly over the eggs in the nest.

Apparently that was way cooler than the “art teacher’s” idea. Cuz they all followed.

But hey. Freedom of expression. Isn’t that what art is??

Today they were here while their Mother went couponing. Yeah, she’s one of those hip, money-saving, frugal moms.:) It usually takes her about a day to round up all of her free groceries, so I knew I would have them for a while. And…what do you think we could do that would keep them happy for at least a few hours? Paint. Of course!

So that’s what we did.

It was such a delight to watch, as the sunbeams danced on their designs and they chattered about their artwork.

John took this picture with his phone. I was so busy keeping the one-year-old from self-destructing while the other three painted, that I did not have even twenty-five seconds to grab my camera.

We all had a blast and I’m pretty sure I ruined it, cuz now they think they will always do fun art projects when they come to my house.

OOPS.
