R and R.

Despite various trials and a minor emotional breakdown, John and I left on a little road trip, today. Without our bebe. (Don’t worry. She’s with my Momma, and I am sure she will not miss us. At all!)

We were planning to go south to Telluride, until the fires wiped out many of the places we were planning to see. So we changed things up and headed to our Northern neighbor, the great state of Wyoming.

We dropped our little one off at “Maggie’s,” left our cares and worries behind, and took off for some much-needed Rest and Romance. As if I ever don’t much-need either one of those. Give me a break from cooking and strapping a toddler into her carseat, and I am quite blissful. Romance me all day long with dark chocolate and deep conversation, and I am the happiest girl on the planet. I am one of those. A hope-full romantic.:)

Six hours later, our truck rolled to a stop, across the road from The Cowboy Cafe in Dubois, and I knew we had made the perfect choice for our getaway. Dubois was every bit as cute as I remembered it to be, sixteen years ago, when my family came through here on a Western camping trip.

But really, who could not love this?

This has got to be one of the most authentic Western towns that still exist. It is so real and alive, you kind of expect Butch Cassidy to pop out from behind the local saloon. That, of course, wouldn’t be so relaxing, but hey. A little adventure never hurt anyone.

It is the end of the first day and my heart is so much more full than it was at the beginning. I’ve snapped a hundred pictures, taken a few deep breaths, and already experienced quite a bit of Rest. And Romance.

And I’ve already found espresso. This is a good thing.

More to come. Later.
